Jesus, Republicans, And The Death Penalty

the death penalty johnnyyou.com

Lately, I have been stuck on a story in the Bible. Though I have known the story since I was a kid, something about it has recently made me feel unsettled. It’s the story of the woman who was caught in adultery. According to the law that was given directly by God, she deserved the death penalty (Leviticus 20:10). However, we see Jesus boldly standing against the judges in defense of the woman and fighting for her life. Was Jesus contradicting the law that He himself wrote? Is Jesus pro the death penalty? 6 Lessons Christians Can Learn From Justin Bieber

111715-Music-Justin-Bieber-Pens-Open-Letter-for-Friend-Killed-in-Paris-Attacks

It was Justin Bieber’s 18th birthday when I was visiting a friend in Los Angeles. That friend happened to be someone that was working very closely with Bieber. I dropped my friend off to a hotel where Bieber was having his birthday party and I was told that the place was unannounced and not to tell anyone. I wondered, “Is it possible for someone to be willing to give up so much money, fame, and power for the sake of following Jesus? Would I be willing if I am in Bieber’s shoes?” I kept thinking about the story of the rich young man that met Jesus (Matthew 19). The recent events with Bieber have proven that it is possible and that there are lessons every Christian can learn from him.

PARIS VICTIMS

PARIS, FRANCE - NOVEMBER 16: People observe a minute-silence at the Place de la Republique in memory of the victims of the Paris terror attacks last Friday, on November 16, 2015 in Paris, France. Countries across Europe will join France, currently observing three days of national mourning, in a one minute-silence today in an expression of solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attacks, which left at least 129 people dead and hundreds more injured. The world watched in horror at the news of the series of terrorists attacks that killed more than 130 people in Paris. Like so many, I felt anger and confusion. Earlier this year, I had a chance to raise funds for the families of the 21 Christians Egyptians who were killed by ISIS. I was able to go to Egypt and meet the victims and deliver the funds. However, with the recent Paris Attacks, I wasn’t sure how I can actually make a difference. Compared to those in Egypt, money may not be a desperate need for those who lost their loved ones in Paris. While it is impossible to rewind the past, here are 5 practical ways you can take to help with the current situation and help us to potentially prevent future ones:

7 Habits Christians In Ministry Need To Quit

Young people reading the Bible together

People in full-time ministry have transformed most of our lives in a direct or indirect way. Whether it was your youth pastor that took you out to coffee weekly or a stranger in the mission field that inspired you to help the poor through social media. A lot of good things happen because of those who choose to give their lives to serve others and make a positive impact. Unfortunately, being in full-time ministry has its disadvantages. Below are a list of negative habits that Christians can fall into, especially those in full-time ministry:
